The Austrovian Observer: 3rd Federal Election: Smith wins re-election

Reich Chancellor Reginald Smith was able to secure a second term today after winning 11 votes or 33.3%. Since early May, it was predicted that Smith would lose to political ally and partner Anthony Easton of the Citizen's Party. Easton and his party won 8 votes or 24.24%, which placed him second behind Seterah Speed and the Traditionalists.

The National Party also won big, receiving 5 votes, which is relatively small but was able to put the party in front of its rival, the Freedom Party. Gabe Griffins and the Freedom Party were placed last with only 3 votes or 9%. This disappointing loss devastating Leader Emily Drake, who plans to hold a press conference sometime this week.

The National Democratic Populist Party lost three seats in the Reichstag, with two going to the Citizen's Party, while one going to the Traditionalists. The Freedom Party also lost one seat, which was His Majesty's seat. After the signing of the Imperial Includement Act, All members of the present Imperial Family (which means the Emperor's siblings and parents) are not allowed to be apart of a political party or run for a high office. Since the Emperor must attend every Reichstag meeting, His Majesty is considered non-partisan and cannot vote for legislation.

The Reichstag will have its first meeting later this week.
