The Austrovian Observer: New proposal may make joining a political party mandatory

The Political Engagement Act, proposed by Speaker Zach Peller, proposes that joining political parties and voting in elections mandatory. “This new act will have citizens become more interested in Austrovian politics and assist the Bureau of Information with census polls.”

The proposal has seen great support from most Reichstag Members, both on the right and left. But, the PEA has seen most opposition from a lot of citizens. After conducting a poll, the Observer found out that most citizens are unhappy about the proposal due to it forcing citizens to engage in politics.

“I’m fine with joining a political party, but being forced to vote? That’s ridiculous.” says a concerned citizen. The vote is scheduled to be on March 17th, the day after the Federal Election.
